MQTT and the tools ecosystem

Finland has a public MQTT broker, and we encourage observers to send their observations to it. Read more about observers in their own section.

We run an enhanced version of the MeshCore MQTT broker for observers. Its changes include:

• IATA filtering
• Blocklists

The main broker is Mosquitto, which distributes packets to these tools and services:

• CoreScope – packet browsing and search, a map and a wide range of analysis tools.
• MeshMapper – worldwide MeshCore coverage mapping.
• Beacon – MeshMapper’s packet analyser.

We plan to add a dedicated MeshMapper section in the near future.

How do I send packets to the broker?

Can I access MQTT packets for my own tool?

Yes, provided your tools will also be publicly available. Ask Vaizki on Discord or Matrix for more information.
